Color in a Bag

From what I hear from others, my addiction to Pinterest is quite common. There for I am coining this phase for all us pinheads...As seen on Pinterest (ASOP).

So ASOP I did the "Color in a Bag" activty with AK.

The point of this activity is for toddlers to smack, poke, and pound this concoction till the colors mix to make one new color. Well AK didn't get to that point on her own. I had to help her.

She did enjoy playing with it. I think it is a great sensory activity for the littlest of toddlers.

Here is the recipe to create this cornstarch mixture. Pretty easy to make and clean up was not to bad.
Happy playing!

Materials
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Food coloring
  • 2 gallon-size ziplock bags
  • Duct tape
Instructions
  1. Over medium heat, combine the cornstarch, sugar, and water in a saucepan, stirring continuously.
  2. Once the mixture begins to thicken, remove the pan from the heat and stir for another minute or so until it thickens to a pudding like consistency. Let it cool for 30 minutes.
  3. Spoon the mixture into two bowls, stir a few drops of food coloring into each (we used red and yellow), then divide the colors between the ziplock bags. Seal the bags with duct tape and let your child mix and mash the colors (they'll keep for up to a week).
